In February 2009, Brooklyn Art Alternative curated it's first exhibition. The title of the show, Terminal Signal, was inspired by the switch from analog broadcasting to digital on millions of television sets across the nation. The free analog signal which had been feeding America's tv's for almost 60 years was making a drastic change. A change that had social and economical effects throughout America, and especially in urban environments. Every day, New York City curbs were piling higher and higher with old tv sets that were now obsolete. Commercials permeated public programming, encouraging people to be prepared for the upgrade, and warning others that without a digital converter box, or a new tv wired for digital broadcasts, their television would go black indefinitely. We asked Brooklyn artists to respond with work in all mediums. We then found a basement space perfectly suited for the guerrilla nature of the exhibition. The exhibit showcased works by John Bartlett, Chris Ernst, Carly Gaebe, Andrew Graham, Charles Koegel, Kylie McMinn, William Rahilly, and Frank Zadlo.
